Ancient Stone Bead

Hey guys, I found this small stone with a hole through it in close proximity to a bead that I found. Could this also be a bead?

it looks like it may be a crinoid fossil.

Sorry most likely it's a crinoid fossil, not a bead, there are no signs of it being drilled or worked.

Crinoid beads have been found in quantities on archaeological sites that indicate use as beads. One example is on display at the Battelle Darby Creek Metro Park Nature Center west of Columbus Ohio.

With out there being signs of drilling or wear from use there is no proof it was ever touched by ancient man.

this bead was found in a field in West Central Indiana. I was not even sure what sort of bead it was, until Gary Fogleman identified it for me.

you can see that some of the glass has exfoliated.

The old crinoid bead, I’ve heard them called Indian beads by average people, maybe just a absent minded term or maybe it’s some knowledge that’s been handed down that has some truth but like treasure hunter said, they occur like that naturally so there’s no way of proving it was used by man or just a fossil

Found this in what I basically a shell midden mixed with bone and tools, still can’t prove it but i suspect it could have been a bead.
