This might be my last visit to this field maybe till next year :'( but again I had some amazing finds :) first find was a complete medieval key with a beautiful design :o these key are highly collectable, a couple of months back i posted my first find from the Bronze Age period a fragment of Axe today I had my second Bronze Age Axe, again broken but still a rare find. The field produced another six Roman Bronze Coins one being the biggest I have ever had ::) and another fragment of Roman Brooch. After the three Hammered I had had of this which had brought my totall for the year to thirteen I thought I might struggle :-[ to get of the unlucky number and this proved the case right up to the very last signal of the day when I winkled out a cut half of Alexander111 of Scotland unfortunately it was folded in half and snapped in two :'( still another amazing day :D

Sounds like a good offer, so it maybe Norman :o As you know he would then sell for £200. Although you would be lucky to get £50 on ebay.

TK,
Congrats on some amazing finds that most of us can only dream of. It's been said many times above, but that key is the neatest one I've ever seen.
Just fantastic! I would never part with a find like that.
Thanks for the great post.

Way COOL finds Tyre !!!!

The key is AMAZING !!!

Ummm ..Tell me you ran to the end of the rainbow and dug the clay pot full of ancient hammered gold coins !!!!!

COngrats !!

Very nice key, with the big handle it looks like a type one variant. These were saxon so 11th century could be about right. If a dealer is saying £100 i'ts worth £200.

Robert you will have to enlighten me on the type one variant :icon_study: 10th century would make it Saxon :icon_scratch: but like I said to Crusader it has heron bone markings which I have seen on Saxon strap ends

Type one are late saxon with big handles like yours. Our John found one a bit bigger than yours but not as nice. He got £120 for it in about 1994.
