The weather is starting to cool off here in Western AR. and after working 7 days in a row at 12 hrs a day I had to get out to unwind...

So I went out to one of my favorite parks to kill a few hours. Found a quartered Colt .44 and a few round balls then while working a fire pit site I retrieved what I thought was a Cosmopolitan; Not so sure now.
It weighs 24.68 grams; 0.870 oz
Here r the pics:

The reason I'm doubting the ID is the strange cannelure type ring along the bottom

I didn't get to see your message until today (Sunday Oct. 2nd). Your bullet does resemble a Cosmopolitan, except its dia,ter is too small. The Cosmopolitan is a .54-caliber whose bullet generally measures about .538-inch in diameter -- while your bullet is only .526-diameter. Also, the Cosmo's length is .88 and yours is .907-inch. I cannot find an exact match for your bullet in any of my collector reference-books on civil war bullets.

Is it me or does that bullet look like the bottom has been cut off?
