You nailed it Old Stonewall. Those are pewter spoons.

Now you know how I got my screen name. LOL

Nice finds.

Ha! Yeah, I can relate. I don't know what I'd do were it not for all the nice folks here helping me with all the mysteries I dig. Thanks!

Always a great site date indicator when Pewters show :icon_thumright:

It's iron infested and slim pickin's, but the 1801 LC I found and some other stuff keeps me going back.

Very nice... quite big too!

Yeah, they are big honkers, aren't they? I have a few other pieces in the trunk of my car - didn't know what they were, but held onto them. When in doubt, keep! Though my wife doesn't like the growing pile. ;-)

Go slow through that Iron. Could be some cut silver in there or even a pewter Rev War button!

Thanks for the encouragement Steve. I'm going to. Though the finds are few and far between, I believe there's still some additional history that can be coaxed from that ground. I'm going to return soon with my T2SE and the small, 5" coil. That should help me separate better, though the AT PRO with the small coil has done a decent job so far. I've pulled some nice pewter buttons out of there, but I'd LOVE to get a Rev. War button - that would be a dream come true. One interesting thing about this site - though it's a large area (couple 100 acres), surrounding a very bold spring, all of the good stuff so far has come from an area that measures about 30 feet by 30 feet.
