My Dad and I hit another elementary school today (for our third dig) and dug up a bit of trash, a whatsit (by the bobbie pin) and a big $0.15. I experienced the false signal in wet sand first hand with my Ace 250 in the sand box today. We dug quite a few empty holes. I CAN tell you that the Ace is 3 for 3 on dime recognition. We're still learning and I THINK getting better with each hunt thanks to everyone writing their experiences on TN. HH and thanks for reading.

Try a park and hit the sidelines of the sports fields where the spectators sit.

The city code says "no digging in grassed areas".

did you know this before you got your detector????

Think of it this way....your 15 cents multiplied by all of the school playgrounds in the United States..............there's a ton of treasure out there to find......now get'r done. ;D

Yep, city/state codes/laws can sure screw things up. Once, I got kicked out of a park because I was MDng on a soccer field. Apparently the soccer match was a fierce one, because the field was all torn up. OH, but they didn't want me to MD any part of the field (to include beneath the stands) because they felt I could damage the field........hmmm :o

I think it's cool that you are including your dad. Believe it or not, these are times that you will look back on and remember..........you and your dad....together.

Regarding my Dad. I have found he does not try to run my life when we're MDing...good times!!!

DFX, no, I did not start researching the codes until I got my MD. There ARE about 400 playgrounds in my town, though...so 400X0.15=800hrs and $60.

Believe me you will have some playgrounds that will yield quite a bit more! ;) How about forest preserves? asking to search peoples yards, be creative I find tons of clad around basketball courts, my favorite>>>sides of the paths/ sidewalks, be creative, if private property please ask permission, I bet you can come on with some spots! Good luck!

WTG. There may be more there, when you get more experienced. Or when it gets restocked next school year.

When you get false readings in wet sand, try lowering the sensitivity. May help. Does with my Master Hunter. Also after a few more outings, you might consider a hand held pinpointer. That will speed you up when you get the hang of it. At least it did for me. I breeze through school yards and tot lots now.

HH.
