Another foot of the white stuff

Woke up to another foot of the white.
Starting to have a many of these snow banks now.

Not quite Heron weather yet.
And besides ; the Loons still need to scout it out first for them and announce when it's time for frogs a bit of a while after they have been splashing about already.

This will flatten the grass and weeds down a tad.
Though send some of that heat north.

I haven't heard a Loon on a lake in awhile now. Surly the sound of those would be a celebration of a new season coming and the end of winter.

We hear them daily during the season. Not the greatest take off artists that's for sure.
Takes a long strip of water to get airborne it seems.
Yet it's a yearly thing to see if they get a hatch.
This young one was learning to dive that day.
They were out in the bay and had to zoom in 970mm to get a photo.

This week I heard that there was a chance of snow in the Las Vegas area. In Iowa, I was digging up metal detecting finds with temps in the 50s. I swear it used to be warm in Vegas and frozen here, in early March. That snow is beautiful, especially when I’m not shoveling it. 😀

Well it was certainly warmer in January, as I was out digging.
Then it went downhill from there.
At times I believe the snow days belong on a postcard.
