Another military metal mystery. WW-1 or earlier.

Picked up an old collection for museum.
This was in it. I have a feeling it is a service metal for imperial military of Germany. Anyone have any other information?
Measures 3-1/2 tall. 2 inches wide at roseatte.

Here is a link that may help. It was translated from German. Seems like your medal may have something to do with the 25th anniversary. In 1873 all the veterans and military societies were merged into one. At least that is how I read it.
