It is a Portuguese military pistol made in England and taken into service at the Porto arsenal in Portuguese. The number might not be a date...it is tough to read but the date should be from the early 1800s...not the 1700s if it is a date. Maybe it is a storeroom number of some kind. stuart

seems to be a similar pistol. Maybe a reproduction or decoration?

TOP PISTOL: ANTIQUE

BOTTOM PISTOL: REPRO

no comparison.

I have a repro identical to that one on the bottom. Bought as a kit from Dixie Gun Works in 1976. It was called the Tower Pistol Kit. Made in Korea. It's the hardest-kicking pistol I've ever fired. The noise scared the hell out of my brother-in-law, who thought it was some sort of toy when I brought it to his farm to fire it.
