Another sweet coin counter malfunction

Went to TD bank yesterday to dump dimes. I have been searching dimes because halves are at a stand still right now with silver. Poured my $250 in the machine and after about 5 seconds the machine stopped and would not continue counting even though the bag was not full. Teller came over and the reject shoot was packed with coins. My dimes and a bunch of other change. I had a normal sized bank bag that my dimes were in and after he emptied the reject tube out into the empty bank bag it was overflowing with coin and mostly quarters. Once he fixed it we finished counting what was in the machine. Ended up with $195 but still had a full bag of coin that had the rest of my dimes in it as well. After I counted those I ended up with $377!!!!!!! $127 profit! I also found a 1942s washington in the mix!

Just as a side note if I didn't get these coins the bank or someone else who used the machine would have they were in the reject shoot meaning they were not counted so when all you softies read this thread don't act like I stole something. I simply got what some idiot before me left for me to find. HH

It happens. The machine likely kept some from several different people and you were the lucky beneficiary. Congrats! But, if and when you're shorted in the future - even if its a large amount - you must just eat it and smile. It has to work both ways.

Awesome! I love when that happens, and it's quite often for me. Although not nearly has high as $127. The most I ever got was $30-something. I just stick my hand up the tube that leads to the reject tray and pull whatever is up there out.

I know for a fact that anything found in the machine by tellers gets kept by the tellers, at least at my dump banks. My friend who works at one said whoever is working at the end of the night they split whatever they find laying in the machines.

One time a sniping teller tried to tell me I was stealing. I asked her, "Exactly who am I stealing from?" Am I stealing from the person that left it there unknowingly? Or am I just getting it before you can steal it from the person that left it there unknowingly?" She just got pissed and walked away after I said that.

I'm surprised it didn't have more silver! Usually when I visit td bank for dumping I walk out with 1-2 sometimes 3 silvers... On a good day with the amount of change you said you pulled you should see around 3-4!

I've hit that jackpot a few times, too. Once for around $200.
At many TD's I use they put anything they find into a bag and once in a while have a pizza party. The foreign and junk goes into another bag and when it's full they throw in on the truck when the coin company comes to get the bags/bins. They're under the(wrong) impression that the coin companies sort it and send it back to the country of origin.

Awesome scores! Reminds me of a coin malfunction of a different sort when I first moved to Vegas...
Back in the day, when the slot machines were still taking coins, I was playing what I thought was a 5c video poker machine. I was a few coins in and hit a 4-of-a-kind and hit the cash out button. Well, I was amazed when out came a bunch of quarters! I looked a little closer & realized I was playing a 25c machine but it was accepting my nickels. So I went to the cage and bought several rolls of nickels & started feeding the machine. Every time I hit something good, I cashed out. I repeated this until nickels started coming out of the bottom. I came back every day for the next two or three days & did it again, but then started to worry that I might get in trouble, but in the end I probably netted a few hundred bucks!
