Antique Brass Padlock

Hey Gang,
Today I dug an old brass padlock marked G & B MFG. CO., but can't find any info on the company or the lock. It looks like a pancake lock, but I'm not sure. Any help would be helpful. Thanks in advance. Breezie

Thanks Ken, that is exactly the lock. I wish the website had given some info on it or the company. Tennessee, thank you for your post; I agree, it does look 19th century, but would love to know for sure. Breezie

Breezie .. The info I got suggested it was made by the Gilbert & Bennett Mfg. Co.
There is a lot of history about the company on the net.

I'm not 100% certain that it IDeez your lock, but the company did start in 1865.

Locks are pretty neat. I found one of these last year next to one of the cellar holes of my Great-great- great- grandfathers old farmstead. Quite sentimental to me!
