Greetings , I am trying to identify this military coat, it is obviously Mexican as each brass button made by T.W. & W -Paris, bears the Mexican eagle and snake and is inscribed Republica Mexicana. Would anyone know for which war this was made ? Is it related to Napoleon's army in Mexico ? Many thanks.

following the logic that many militaries mimic each other in style of dress....my best guess based on American counterparts would be 1870's officers frock coat....

so having said that the time frame for France's adventure in Mexico is pretty darn close...But those were mostly french and Habsburg troops so I doubt that they would have Mexican themed uniforms. The buttons being from a manufacturer in Paris means nothing really...just that different national armies used the best outfitter they could find.

Yes, a uniform of prerevolutionary era. Around 1900-1910. Paris two or three piece Treldon, Weldon amd Weil (sp?) are correct. Seems to be a staff officer. No identificable insignia.
Thanks for sharing.

Would you consider selling your coat? Thanks and good luck.
