Hello all, does anyone know of any dealers or retailers offering financing or who have a store credit card that sell decent metal detectors? I'm on SSI disability at the moment so my funds are limited. Although i can put some money aside every month to buy a detector but by the time i have enough ill miss this season as im in NY state. I am trying to sell some items to help fund the process as i describe in my post in the classified forum. But as the tittle of the post reads I am wondering if there are any places i or my spouse could finance from or apply for credit at. Any information would be much appreciated.

Much love and be well all.

Floater what sort of thing was that to ask about being a drug addict? I would think they would make the best hunters, having a habit to support!

ROFLMAO
I know why I Love ya Sunshine, I couldnt help it. If I,m going to extend credit they have to have some Qualifications. LOL

Hey Float, I need a new truck. I'd like one like your Tundra! Will you finance for me too! LOL.

Thats the great thing about this community, people like floater who are willing to help out one who is less fortunate. All joking aside I think that someone like him really deserves to be recognized for doing something so selfless.
I was just thinking however what about paypal? With 7126 members what if some of us just paypal you a few buck until you reach the level of buying a decent detector? I will happily drop $5 to get omeone else into this wonderful hobby. So lets say you decide that and ACE250 will work for now, why not set up a telethon type thread to get you the money then no one is on the hook for $200, not that I am saying you wouldn't pay floater back but this takes out most of the risk involved. I don't really see raising enough for a $1000 plus machine if you could get a good starter from donations in the meantime you can start saving for that MXT in the future. Honestly I think this is the best way but it really isn't up to me is it?

Orygun, you're right about Floater, very intelligent, honest big hearted person with a great sense of humor! I'm glad I've got to meet him. I also think starting a fund to help him out is a great idea. If you get one goin I'll match your $5. It's a great hobby and I hate to see anybody not be able to get started in this situation. Let us know if you start a thread.

Actually Guys that is and Excellent Idea all around. I never thought of that approach but that is something similar that they do at my office and my wife's. Its like a rainy day fund for just such occasions when someone gets sick or has a family emergency we get them tickets for airlines and all that good stuff. I donate points from my amex and all kinds of time and a few bucks here and there. Christ I probably have about 180,000.00 points alone on my Amex Last time I used em I donated 20,000 points for someone's airfare when his wife got cancer and they needed to fly to the Mayo Clinic. Before that I got my own tickets to Ireland ;D Its like Penny's from heaven . Orygun if you or surfrat know how to set one of these up lets do it. We can bring this subject up other places too for donations .Jeff might kick it back but were just looking for exposure in other spots. The only thing weird is Whyired hasn't been back on the thread or PMed me. Oh well maybe he,s just busy. But I do like this Idea. There are a lot of people that have issues beyond there control and I don't mind helping them. I guess the only other deal is to figure out who the Treasurer is. ORYGUN your elected.LOL Or SURF You guys fight it out. I was just gonna call Kellyco and have him shipped one and let him pay kellyco on a layaway in my name for the value until it was payed up I would just get something after that or start the whole process over. If he stiffs me it wont hurt me I'll just be out a few bucks. Anyways thats all cool. Lets do It.

Many thanks for all the comments and advice all. And special thanks to Floater and everyone else for their willingness to help. Sorry I did not post sooner I have been battling a cold of some sort the last few days and have been taking it easy as my immune system isn't in the best of shape.

My name is David if i haven't mentioned it before, I live in kingston NY in the Hudson valley if there are any folks local to me.

BTW I can start making payments toward a detector by this upcoming Monday. I had no luck selling my sports cards and signed hockey puck but did find a old larger scale slot car that i hope is worth something i just cant seem to id it.

Ill post again later today, right now I am going to go get some air for abit since I'm doing good today.

Much love and be well all.

Just a quick note on credit cards.. This is how I explained it to my kids..
It's called a CREDIT card for a reason.. Credit is a temporary loan until the end of the month, then you pay the ENTIRE balance when it comes in, and you get to use the banks money for FREE (not 'you' free, I don't lean that way)
If you were to just charge stuff, and pay it off, it would be called a FINANCE card..

It's a CREDIT card and if you treat it that way they are VERY useful and you will benefit..

first i would like to compliment you all on your generosity, and you can cout me in for a 5 as well, when you get it going.

regarding my comments on credit cards, boycott was probably the wrong term to use, but i just did not want some poor soul who's in a financial pinch already, to get themselves deeper in debt, anyone can have financial setbacks of somesort that gets them behind in the bills for whatever reason, but a credit card payment just one day late can go from 9% to 25% plus surcharge fee's on top of that, it can make a bad situation even worse.

Well first Off I would like to thank Everyone who wanted to donate to our rainy day fund here on treasurenet.
Unfortunately Marc and Jeff don't think this is something for the forum. Apparently goodwill is not one of there strong suites.
If any one would like to do something in the future please fell free to Email me personally .My address is below my Avatar. I have another plan and will execute this .
Thanks all for looking and keep it real.

Whyired,

Kellyco was mentioned. They also have used and closeout detectors for reduced prices. For the money the new Garret ACE 250 is a great starter. You can go even cheaper Ace150 and upgrade with your finds. Just a thought.

I think what you were trying to say was, why pay someone when you want to spend your money. If you look at it from the view of whenever you spend money with your credit card you giving a percentage of that to someone and if you spent cash you wouldn't be giving that % to anyone, you would in fact be saving money. So if you can afford to give away between 5-25% of your money then hey cool, no problem, that is everyones personal choice. But to some people that is probably considered a wate of money and/or frivilous. Now if you want to buy something (to get on subject) and you don't have the money then is it worth it to spend 5-25% more and get it now instead of either not getting it or having to wait several months? For this particular situation, I have been in it and my local MD dealer took a trade in as a down payment and I did the rest in installments, no intrest. I paid it off in 3 months max and all was good. So I doubt a big box retailer would do anything close so maybe try and find a local dealer, or the generous poster above and make a down payment, get the detector and pay it off as quickly as possibe. Then hunt like your in a million dollars of credit card debt! ;D ;)

I couldn't agree more. By using credit cards......One cannot get out of the hole by digging out the bottom.

Use of the credit cards is why the banks has the tallest buildings in every American city! They are making plenty of $$ from credit card users.

Save your money & get a debit card, you're life will be easier.......see ya mark
