Yesterday, I took my son fossil hunting at Big Brook Park in Colts Neck. We had a great time wading in the water and sieving together. We found a couple nice things, but there were a number of questionable finds. My son (11) believes they are teeth, which is great....however, I'm actually curious if anyone can tell if they are indeed fossils or just rocks. LOL.

Here are the pictures. Thanks for looking!

Is this Cretaceous material? Not sure about the majority (likely bone fragments and iron-rich concretions/aggregates), but the bullet-shaped items in the 6th image are Belemnites, or the guard/rostrum from Belemnoids, an extinct relative of the cuttlefish. Last items look like oyster shells.

Thanks! Yes, I believe that this area is known for Cretaceous period finds. Definitely correct on the belemnites. Very cool find. The oyster shells are also correct. There were lots of them, and apparently this is also a common find. I'm not sure about the rest of them. I wonder if they will attract to a magnet....
