Any good ideas for hooking a cord to my scoop?

I want to attach my stainless hook and bungee cord to my new diamond back scoop, then that attaches to my quick release belt and I pull it behind me.

I have the air filled fiberglass handle so I am afraid to drill a hole through it because it may let water into the handle?

Any ideas, I don't want to use the belt like some use and then hang it there by the basket. I thought about maybe trying something like JB weld and use that to attach some type of hook.

Any ideas are appreciated....

I bet if you sand paper the spot your going to attach it to,and then use some marine epoxy it will work, just be sure you got it where you want it first.

The glue I used on my waterproofed Sovereign to attach the side brackets for the shoulder harness I glued on using water proof marine epoxy, If I want to take the bracket off I am going to have to cut it off, it is there forever....

Bill - you could use two stainless pipe clamps and a D-ring - you can get smaller d-rings and on the
fiberglass I would wrap it with some rubber from an old innertube so it won't cut into it -see picture
and then use some ductape to cover the clamps- Cavedweller

Bill - I don't hang mine like that I just put it no my scoop handle to show you but I'am buying a Nuttall
scoop - Travis is putting one together this week and I'am going to pick it up hopefully before the
weekend and I'am getting the 48 inch handle and my other scoop will be a backup - Cavedweller

Here is how I did it Bill.

I found where on the handle I wanted to attach. I then put a couple of wraps of Gorilla tape around the area.

The cord that I use is "550" para cord. I made a loop to the required length, with a simple overhand knot.

I then used two wraps of stainless steel wire to attach the loop to the taped area. (twisted)

making sure that the ends of the wire were not able to cut or puncture my hand.
A final wrap with gorilla tape sealed the deal for me.

The purpose of the loop is to have an attachment point for your snap swivel that is connected to your belt or whatever.

P.S. The black tape by the yellow foam is anti-slip, it helps prevent slipping when everything is wet.

Bill i hook a pot hook on my belt, I run a cable tie around my belt an snap the hook on the tie. It really works great. I just hook the scoop by the neck an go you cant even feel the scoop. An one hand is free to wave at the beach bunnies. COTTON

Dragging the scoop behind you is a pain in the butt, I like hooking it to my belt and nobody can convince me that there is a better way of doing it but it's personal preference, you do it your way and I'll do it mine- end of subject for me - Cavedweller

I hook mine at from the scoop end on my belt. I picked up a nice tool hook from Home D. it works really well. Sence were on scoops and im still fresch on beach hunting. I noticed you guy put floatation on your handles. I wonder if the insulation foam in a can, the kind you use to seal around door jambs etc wouldnt work? You know fill the inside of the handle with the stuff?

The reason I use flotation is because at my age I really need all the help I can get when lifting a full scoop in the water. My elbow especially.

Just to clarify, On dry sand I drag. In the water, I use my scoop as a walking stick.
In the water, everything is attached to my quick release belt, including my flotation device/sifter.
