Any idea on these markings on this pottery shard I found? This area is new houses and before that it was woods and probably settlers or indians.

How big is it? If small, it looks like it might be part of an old clay pipe bowl and would likely be from the 1800s.

Now that you mention it R-C, it does look like a pipe bowl piece, providing the size is right.
