Shane, It always helps to provide more information on the item for identification. Size, material it is made from, other items recovered from same site, etc.

The size would help a lot..
It reminds me of a shoe makers tool

I think it's a shoe last too. Depending on the size, it could be for a baby, child, or adult.

Sorry about not giving the size.. length is about 2 3/4 " widest part is about 3/4 " wide and the thickness at the handle top is 1/8 " and it will not stick to a magnet....hope this helps. Thanks for all the advice LOL 72 and still learning

Its metal

It's some sort of nonferrous metal could be brass or bronze for some alloy of tin and copper.

Is it possible that there is an opening (hole) that goes through the fat, rounded end? If so, it may have had something made of iron inserted into it that formed the rusty blockage. If there was/is a hole, it might be some type of tent rope tightener.

GB, aren't shoemakers lasts used to form the shape of a shoe? I would think that it being only 3/4" wide would make it much to small for the width of a shoe (but I do admit I know nothing of shoe making!)

Pic 3.webpPic 4.webp TomPA here is a few more pics of the other end it may of had a hole in it... What do you think???

If it's just rust inside, you should be able to dig it out with an awl, nail, or something similar. Don't run with it or you'll poke your eye out! If it does indeed have a hole, it will make the IDing of it more conclusive.

It looks like a lead bullet that hit some rocks. Put a coin in next to it for size.

rodgerD, he states "the size.. length is about 2 3/4 " widest part is about 3/4 " wide and the thickness at the handle top is 1/8 ". It looks to be brass or bronze, not lead. And at 2 3/4" long, I wouldn't think bullet.

You're right like I posted my first thought was a shoe makers tool. I could be way off but this shape looks familiar to me
