Any idea what this was?

Dug up on an old homesite I know it’s a pin on thing of some kind but can’t find nothing like it on the ole interweb. Would like to know is it military? Any idea what it May have looked like when it was in better shape and is it a lapel pin,military pin with thread gone? I have no clue
