Found this out behind a old house by what looked like a place for storing corn there were mason jars w/ milk glass lids or porcelain & medal lids. Any ideas.
Smudge pots don't have pumps, and they don't have wicks either. I'm sure you have part of a kerosene heater, which would have an adjustable wick, especially so it wouldn't smoke up the house. Smudge pots put out lots of smoke, they were stinky damn things. Now days they use propellers to stir up the air, and will also irrigate, coating everything with ice, which keeps it right at 32 degrees and saves it from freezing.
