Any Idea?

I have found civil war, revolutionary era and modern junk all in this area. I have a couple items that I need help with. The U shaped brass piece, I thought was a drawer pull but there are no holes or hardware extending so there would be no way to secure it to a drawer. The other brass piece is very heavy and was broken off from something. I believe the little copper stem with rubber on the end is a valve stem? Anyway, I appreciate any thoughts. Thanks

Both brass pieces are about 5 to 6 inches long. The one that is broken off on both ends is about as thick as a quarter on the thick end. The coin is a copper but its pretty smooth so I'm not sure. Thx
