Two guesses -

1.) Apple corer or peach pitter.

B.) Cheese tester.

Inserted into wheel or block & plug drawn out - then a dowel pushed the plug out of the tool to check the consistancy.

If it was sharper a plug cutter or wad/cork cutter.

In all cases missing the wood handle.

Wow...so many suggestions "very sorry" for the late reply :(

Carlie P - I agree something "Wooden ?" was attached to the metal rod...and the
apple corer, peachpitter etc. it's a 1/2 inch at the thin end I like the idea :)

cody cat - I just knew somebody would say a whistle.....it crossed my mind too !! :)

Seams like it's made of what do ya call it cast metal...pot metal...modern ??

It could be pewter too (corroded) ?? I even thought a water hose w/a handle ??

I did'nt think it was a tap though

Thanks for all the suggestions + replies!! :) Weeeell, back it goes in my
"miscallaneouse case" HH every one :D
