I figured it out...They were Bronze Paper Weights used during the Civil War. Mystery Solved. We can Move on now..Congrats...HH..Great find

It looks to me like a Skee-Ball, except they were made of ceramic and not bronze.

Sorry to hijack the thread here but I found a large ball too, I think it's a triple fused cannonball based on the three holes in it. It's marked "MAXIM" and has a strange purple patina to it. It weighs about 10 pounds and about 8 1/2 inches across. Will someone here tell me how rare this cannonball is, and let me know the collector value?100_1700.webp

Now that is a rare one. You should display it proudly. I am sure cannon ball guy will want to see that beauty
