🔎 UNIDENTIFIED anybody ever dig up anything that looks like this. its an 1 5/15 across an seems to be copper. looks to be an eagle but cant tell.

need help on where i can get this button cleaned to maybe see more what it is. its 1 5/16 across an its a button. dug in gloucester va an found a 1773 half cent near by. its very thin.any clue to what it is would be a great help! added pics of the 1773 coin an a bronze ring that was near by too. wonder if it could be one of a set of buttons of George Washington Inaugural Buttons lol. got to find a way to get it alot cleaner an im not trying to any more..

You might try rubbing some olive oil on in, alot of times it will highlight it enough to get a solid I.D. Looks like the eagle is of revolutionary war era, to me. Maybe a Rev. War button.

You might try rubbing some olive oil on in, alot of times it will highlight it enough to get a solid I.D. Looks like the eagle is of revolutionary war era, to me. Maybe a Rev. War button.
have done so. i know its in the 1700s. been trying to find sombody that knows what there doing to try an clean it..still has alot of dark spots on it . it is copper

I see an eagle, but also looks like a rooster 🤷🏾‍♂️

I was thinking a well worn GW button.
But few have the head facing right.

You could try a very light electrolysis session. But be very careful, cause too much time in solution might take away what details you got. I've had really good luck on buttons with a very light electrolysis session.

The wings look different than the wings on the GW eagle buttons. In my opinion.

If you use any oil or water or electrolysis you’ll lose every bit of detail and have no ID. This looks similar to an early Louisiana button to me, actually. I’ve seen a similar button and I want to say it’s listed in Tice.
