I stopped by a newer local thrift store this morning and managed quite the haul, but had to rush home immediately after to take the BF to a doctor's appointment. Now I'm waiting in the waiting room, having gone through my jewelry scores, and I'm extremely curious about the only questionable item. It's a hinged bangle marked 14k and set with a kajillion stones, my first inclination is to assume it's fake but it is not magnetic, it has no brassy smell, and it does have a nice weight to it. Pardon my potato pictures, but here is the bracelet in case anyone wants to weigh in until I can test it later today. The last picture shows the rest of my jewelry haul, basically equal parts 925, 10k & 14k. Not shown are the pair of whisk beaters for my mixer and a nice Littman stethoscope, paid $8 for everything.

Ok enough of that, the verdict is in... It tests good!!! Just over 15 grams of 14k and maybe diamonds? Total for my big-spending eight-dollar trip: 28.6 grams of 14k, 3 grams of 10k and around 20 of sterling. I am so excited right now I'm kind of shaky.

And I'm just jealous! LOL! I was gonna vote fake because that 14K stamp looks huge! And I have at least one fake brass ring with that mark. But that bracelet is beautiful! Great score!!

Sweet! My guess was real. The marks that are laser etched always seem to be fake

Lol thanks for clarifying dig! I will say that even though I tested three different areas I am still a little iffy for some reason, the finish on the inside of the bottom band looks weird to me but it could just be sloppy workmanship. Luckily I can take it to a nearby pawnshop that has an x-ray tester, I think it is? Some magical grey box-machine that is incredibly accurate. Anyway I buy from them occasionally and when it's slow they're more than happy to test metals/stones/etc for me.

That right there is why I thrift. I love the jewelry. I have found one 14K white gold bracelet this year. Very small mark. Only weighed about 4 grams though.. You killed it!

Just a quick update, the stones are diamonds, 1.5-2 carats. I'm going to start it at $900 and see how that goes, could probably get more but I don't want to sit on it forever.

Thanks everybody I am still riding this one out lol. I've scrapped almost $300 out of that pile and am in the process of listing the bracelet, baby shoe charms, and a small 10k pendant with 3 diamonds in it. Will hopefully end up close to $1500 up from that right bucks when all is said & done.

It's actually a resale/literal junk shop that appears to get it's inventory from storage lockers, a few have popped up here recently. The vast majority of things aren't priced so I just make offers and they've never turned one down yet! All of that jewelry save the sterling (not shown) came from a bowl behind the front counter that an employee pulled out after I'd looked through everything out on the floor and asked if there was anything else. It obviously hadn't been gone through but the person working is the apparent face of the business and had no problem handing it over so idk.

Thankfully too much time digging through piles of tiny junk has paid off and I pulled all that gold out in record time. Added it to my little pile, offered $8 because that was how much cash I had on me, and seconds later was on my way. (Edited to add that the bag shown in the pics is one that I had in my purse for just such an occasion.)
