stupid, right?

I found 8 stamps decently preserved for about 100 years by a Gillette razor box!

The stamps were printed between 1913-15 and commemorate the completion of the Panama Canal and the PPIE in 1915.

I guess you never know what you're going to turn up out there.

Nice find. Finds like that are awesome.

Yeap, seen it before, the little tin with stamps made banner.

Congrats on a great find!
Now you are a philatelist detectorist!

Very cool, , that's not a common item.
The Panama Canal comemmorative two cent stamp, in mint condition are worth $28 each. That is the plain perforated stamp. The stamps that were part of the "New Perforation Type" issued in 1915 are worth over $100 each, depending on condition.
The razor tin is cool too. That "Cache" is worthy of it's own little display case.
Congrats

Great find! I'm amazed the stamps lasted that long.

What a cool find!

Simply amazing, two of my hobbies together would be completely amazing. Congrats!

Very cool find! Congratualtions!

Very impressive congratulations

Cool find . Never seen that posted before

Hi; That is by far one of the coolest things I've ever seen or heard of dug up before especially with the State of Preservation of those stamps. Another thing I like is the Gillette container. The Gillette Co. is from my home town of South Boston,(Southie), My father worked there as a Machinist for 32 years. All my friends and Neighbors and their kids work there today. I buy nothing but Gillette Razors. I'm Proud of it. :headbang: Now a Gillette container from 1915 shows up in San Fransisco. !! Shows the World wide appeal it had even back then. How cool is that. I love it. :hello2: Way to go. !!!! :icon_thumright:
Folks, I hereby Vote for and Suggest BANNER. What say ye Folks?? I await. PEACE:RONB :leprechaun-hat:

WOW!
That is one Tough Little Box, Silver? ....I suppose if it was u would have stated it.
The Stamps are Cool as Heck ..I'd def, leave the 2 that are together ----"Together'. Banner worthy IMO.

I don't think it's silver. Tough, American made steel I guess? There are actually 6 of them still connected together I think. I haven't handled them much for fear of damaging them and am going to wait until I get them to an expert to help me unfold them.

Commented on this on another site Greg, but well worth giving "Kudos" here!!

Killer and unusual find! The ground never ceases to amaze me.

I love seeing finds like that, very unusual! I'm amazed at how well preserved they are. Congrats

When I was a kid, I recall boiling the stamps to remove them from an envelope...then place on a paper towel, then flatten in a heavy book for a day. I also remember using the steam from a tea kettle...
