Hi! I'm wondering if anyone here has ever or heard of anyone going to Columbia to look for thier own emeralds? I am able to fly there for free and have toyed with the idea of going there to look for one. Emerald is my birthstone and my favorite stone anyway, since green is my favorite color lol! At any rate im hoping to find someone who can tell me if this would even be a possible endeavor. Thanks in advance for any info!

Hey IAMZIM, I have no knowledge of anyone going to Columbia, except the Secret Service, lol. Due to the cartel activity, please be careful if you go. On the other hand, there are gemstone mines in the Carolina's that have emeralds. For a small fee, you can pick all you want. If I remember right you are charged per pound for what you carry out. If that doesn't work for you, I bought a Colombian emerald from Jewelry Television a few years ago, the wife loved it, and the chain stores my wife shops at gave an estimated value a lot higher than what I paid.

Good luck,
Bill
