Anyone ever used some plastic ribbed drain pipe

So I was thinking about keeping some drain pipe in my bag when I'm out hiking. Anyone ever used it if so what size would you recommend and any tips on using it as a sluice

I saw a dude show up with a rain gutter footing and a piece of carpet from depot and found gold :-P
