So I recently came across this old 1/2 cent, & while researching online has told me a good bit about what it actually is, (apparently they were used as emergency currency by merchants on and around Prince Edward Island?) I’m now seeing that there’s a pretty wide variety of these coins. (PE10-10, PE10-11, PE10-12, etc) Does anyone familiar with these coins think they could ID the variety? I’d love to know what it might be worth, if anything lol. Will upload more pics if needed.
-Thanks!

Yeah I’ve tried comparing it to every one imaged earlier, (probably spent way too long doing that actually), but from where it’s a little worn on the front I still couldn’t really pinpoint what the variety is.
About the only things that’ve narrowed it down any for me are; no counter stamps, British flag instead of U.S., and a “curved” OR “drooping” flag instead of the straight one. Also, it doesn’t look like there’s any men are on the ship either like with some types.
That still leaves me with 5-6 different possibilities though, and I’m at a loss. I know they’re fairly common in Canada. Hopefully someone from up north comes along and can recognize it pretty easy!

Yup, pretty sure that’s it! Closest match I’ve seen to it at least, and about the only other one with that type of ampersand I’ve come across. Mines just in much worse condition lol, but still a neat keepsake. Idk how I hadn’t come across that one before. Thanks for clearing that up though!

Cool coin. My grandmother was born on Prince Edward Island and gave me one of those when I was a kid.
