I tested some gold flakes from slucing, came up as 50-55 for me. My necklace comes up as 16.
Just wondering if there is a general VDI number gold trapped in ore usually pops up as? Went looking in tailing piles today, didn't find much.
However, I detected on a big mound of slag out in the middle of nowhere and a chunk was hitting at 55/10%, so I brought it home and chipped it away to the solid ball of what was setting the detector off. I don't see any gold color, it's green, bright pink, and red. I may smash it tomorrow to see what if anything is inside. I'm guessing it may be copper? No idea what the pink and red could be, the pink is nearly neon color, really weird looking.
