Weird find looks Mayan , but barely read made in Japan on the back seems hand forged and possibly pewter or pot metal--
Any Ideas please let me know

Modern bronze or brass molded item. "Made in Japan" means the country of origin, nothing more. The fact that it is written in English is indicative of the intended market. Does look vaguely Mayan in style. Probably intended for a souvenir shop.
 
The lost Treasure of Cortés.... just kidding, it looks like some kind of gift ship souvenir piece, likely brass or zinc.
