I don't know if this is jewelry or just a brand logo badge. It's about 1" square and that extra piece was mounted in the center of the back but broke off when I tried to straighten it. :censored: One corner looks like it got clipped by a lawn mower. It could be silver but I haven't tested it yet. No markings on the back at all. No corrosion either, even though it was found 4-5" down. From one angle, maybe a horse or some other animal?

Heavy for it's size.

Interesting.

It may be just some type of non logo design.
like a school project.

To help, I've rotated the OP's photo...

it is a zipper pull.....

Second that, just missing other little piece to attach it. Looks like cast to me seeing as how it looks gritty where it broke.

I thought that without a doubt when I opened this thread yesterday but I guess I assumed that it would be obvious to threadstarter if it were..

I doubt that it is a zipper pull, based on the description of the piece on the back.

Possibly half of a cuff link?

How big is it?

Take a picture with a common coin next to it.

As I stated in the first post, it's about 1" squared in size. The tab that broke off was soldered to the center of the back, not on the edge like you would think a zipper pull would be. The closed end of the tab was attached to the square and the open end looks to be clipped just like the edge of the square. Neither piece is magnetic and could be silver, so who knows if it has any value beyond it's metal content or not. I guess if it was some sort of designer jewelry, it might. I know Jordache uses a horse logo but I can't seem to find one exactly like this.

Almost certainly a zebra. As a zookeeper I've seen a lot of zoo gift shops, seems like the kind of thing we sell for souvenirs. Either a pin, hat clip or zipper pull.

Friend,

Have the metal tested, either at a pawn broker or coin shop.

If it is .925 know what the current exchange is and get as much as you can.

Without looking at the piece with a loupe, I cannot tell the level of craftsmanship,
having been a silversmith for the good part of 35 years, my first instinct is
of a school project using soldering and "hand-wrought" techniques.

There are many factors that I'd examine; the "cleanness" of the solder joints,
the inside walls of the cut-out portion of the design-what type of tool marks are present, etc.

I'd say, if it's silver, get ya a "dollar-two-ninety-eight" and buy fresh batteries for yer "beep stick!"

Happy Hunting!

My Best,

Scott
