Anyone use Royal mfg scoops in fresh water?

Been looking at their Step-on Scoop with two piece handle . Would only use it 5-10 times a year in fresh water, good choice? I know zinc coated steel won't last forever but should be fine for what i do. this is $55 and i cant spend over $85 and don't see much at that price.

If you are in loose sand and are very gentle with it then it would probably work. Any kind of rocks, shells or clay would be a killer. I'm with the others that replied that for about double that price you could get a scoop that would last you a lifetime doing what you described.

I've used one. VERY heavy, but it will do the job you describe.

18 gauge steel frame and 16 gauge wire mesh, very lightweight.
If you are working a very coarse soft sand it would work, it's not going to work for finer hard packed sand,it is too lightweight.It will collapse when you step on it.
The zinc plating will wear off quickly and you have rust problems.

It's heavier gauge and stainless, no rust.
You will have to put you own handle on it, you can use a wood handle or check you local dollar stores for fiberglass handle yard tools.
My dollar store sells fiberglass handle shovels for $5.99, cut the shovel off and use a wood dowel to fit the handle to the scoop.
You will have a scoop that will last a lifetime for what you will be using it for.

You said fresh water..... you didnt say BEACH. So if its a lake you may be dealing with a hard bottom ...... or mud. Take your time.

for $ 50-85 you do not buy a good scoop, wait and save for a normal scoop ...for the money you buy trash or a fake ...
just use a shovel for now ...
scoop should be SS 2 mm, correct design, welded tig ... and so on.
