Anyone want to guess how much this weights?

I have been filling these 2 old glass 5 gallon water bottles with copper and will have the second one filled this week or next for sure. Now we are in the process of buying a home and am going to be moving by end of summer. Never thought about moving these until this last weekend. Anyone want to venture and guess how much they weigh or how much they think is in these? Not sure how I am going to move them!!!

There is a great amount of tension on that glass right now because of the outward pushing pressure/gravity/weight of those cents. Those containers can break very easily right now (even just by rolling them, you don't have to bang them). Be very careful—speaking from experience.

I understand they are under alot of tension. These are the old blue green bottles. not the thin ones made today. I have had these 2 bottles for 20 plus years.

I don,t remember how many pounds, I think four +.the thing I do remember is the bottom braking when I pulled the neck to get a hand truck under it! It makes about a four foot circle of pennies.LOL

I was thinking of making a wooden crate to secure each one in. Wouldn't take much to make one. Wrap it in bubble wrap or a thick blanket and box it in. Then using a dolly or hand truck should be easier and safer.

So here is the total weight of the full one on the right. 195 lbs. anyone want to venture a guess on how much is there in $. I did not count them so I'm not sure.

A roll of cooper cents weighs 5.4 oz.

195 lbs * 16 oz = 3,120 oz. 3,120 / 5.4 oz = 577.77 rolls of cents.
577.77 *.50 = $288.88 or you have 28,888 cents in that glass jar, give or take a cent or two.

Copper is @ $3.12 per pound. Cents are 95% copper so 95% of 195 lbs = 185.25 pounds of copper
185.25 * 3.12 = $577.98 in copper value. Not bad, now if you can get it smelted you are golden......

Or you can make 1 toz copper rounds and sell them for $1.50 on Ebay and walk away with over $2,850..... or there abouts.....

Unfortunately I have a similar antique 5 gallon water bottle filled with rolled pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters...can barely lift it...my problem is that the neck is narrow and its almost impossible to get the rolls out...

However, by my calculations, 195 lbs X 181/lb = 17,195 pennies or $171.95 (or 344 rolls)...

Calculations are based on penny weight from 1983 to present...prior to 1983, the penny count is approximately 146 pennies/lb
