Anyone want to guess how much this weights?

I have been filling these 2 old glass 5 gallon water bottles with copper and will have the second one filled this week or next for sure. Now we are in the process of buying a home and am going to be moving by end of summer. Never thought about moving these until this last weekend. Anyone want to venture and guess how much they weigh or how much they think is in these? Not sure how I am going to move them!!!

Carefully, move them into triple wrapped heavy duty trash bags--and hope that holds should they bust open. A burlap bag would also work.

There is a great amount of tension on that glass right now because of the outward pushing pressure/gravity/weight of those cents. Those containers can break very easily right now (even just by rolling them, you don't have to bang them). Be very careful—speaking from experience.

I'm a homebrewer and have heard many horror stories of people breaking these glass carboys when trying to move them full of beer wort. I mean some pretty serious injuries. Be careful with them. No idea on the weight.

A roll of cooper cents weighs 5.4 oz.

195 lbs * 16 oz = 3,120 oz. 3,120 / 5.4 oz = 577.77 rolls of cents.
577.77 *.50 = $288.88 or you have 28,888 cents in that glass jar, give or take a cent or two.

Copper is @ $3.12 per pound. Cents are 95% copper so 95% of 195 lbs = 185.25 pounds of copper
185.25 * 3.12 = $577.98 in copper value. Not bad, now if you can get it smelted you are golden......

Or you can make 1 toz copper rounds and sell them for $1.50 on Ebay and walk away with over $2,850..... or there abouts.....

But you forgot to subtract the weight of that heavy glass jug.

I wouldn't even want to move those. I would put a sign on it for the buyer or next occupant of your place saying "welcome and enjoy!!" If it breaks, you are going to have a nasty time picking all the slivers of glass out of that disaster. I have seen way too many people use those narrow necked water bottles and be they glass or plastic it is always nearly impossible to get the coins out. People are constantly shaking and shaking and shaking those things at the coinstars and it drives me nuts. I like to use the large Sam's Club size Nestle cocoa mix containers or better yet I got two containers from my workplace that use to hold the store's disposible cart sanitizer wipes. They have a pop top on them with a smaller lid that you pull the wipes through. I wish I could get more of those. They are easy to carry, hold about 100 dollars worth of nickels and you just pull off the main top and dump them.

Ill eventually transfer them over to 5 gallon buckets but not until we move.
