I did recently see them on eBay as well. Some were selling even cheaper ....but I have a gut feeling they are imitations.

Ya get what you pay for...just saying...:laughing7:

Look on YouTube, you will find a comparison video..

No they definitely are not the same.

From what I've heard they are very shabby knock-offs.

I figured as much. most of the time if it is too good to be true.....it ain't. but occasionally good things happen, they call them a pleasant surprise. so many companies are having stuff made in china these days. thanks all

I have two of the genuine "Garrett Carrots"...work great! :occasion14: I would just purchase the Garrett and save yourself the grief later. :icon_thumleft:

I wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot carrot.

Why would you support them stealing from Garrett. Even if it does work just as well? Why support China stealing from a legitimate company? To save a few bucks? Would you buy a hot item from someone?

Id buy the deteknix (sp?) Unit before that.

If you find something that's made in China that actually lasts for more than a week or two buy all of them that you can.Made in China = GARBAGE.

I didn't know if they actually made them for Garrett. Most of Brownings stuff is now made in china. I have a "real" carrot and try to buy American made if possible. I also have two of the black Garrett pin pointers but they are not so great anymore. The wife was wanting to save some money if possible but I wanted a Garrett carrot. This just verified what I had told her. I personally don't want the headaches of a lousy pin pointer. I fixed her up with my backup black pin pointer as a temporary fix until we get her a better pin pointer. We both end up with our pin pointers in the water here and there so being waterproof is important. And there is some truth to that saying about if momma ain't happy. Besides, I like to keep my competition in good working order so that when I kick her butt, she doesn't have a crutch to claim LOL. She was whining about nearly having to touch the target before it would buzz and that does suck. I called her a whiner and a sore loser but then she threatened me with bodily harm. Since she is half Italian and Irish, I take her threats seriously.

$80? They've gone up. I bought one for my younger daughter two years ago and it's still working for her...and she's not a delicate hunter. Paid $60, IIRC.

We the citizens depend on it for our jobs.....

Meh.

Most of Hilti's are made in China. (don't think you will find anyone who actually knows, would say Hilti is garbage) Apple is made in China. (crappy company, but products are rock solid)
Made in China doesn't make it garbage. Being garbage makes it garbage. The US makes their fair share of garbage too.

At least factories in the U.S. don't have suicide nets:laughing9:
