Archaic point, Revolutionary War, 1812, early US cent ... a few finds.

Had 3 hunts with some interesting finds dating from Archaic period to mid 1800's Some farmers are kind enough to let me access their fields even after they planted the crops and I mange to go there until the first growth.

My favorite relic was an eyeball find. Couldn't believe my eyes at first when I spotted it laying perfectly flat on the ground. Not 100% sure of its use (knife,arrow or spear), period or material. But it's a BEAUTY! By far, the nicest point in my collection.

Archaic or Early Woodland point. It's large one,with 80 mm in length. Looks similar to the one in the link http://projectilepoints.net/Points/Susquehanna_Broad.html



Another great find was my second Revolutionary War 67th of foot. A pretty rare button to find as only around 80 soldiers of that regiment participated in Burgoyne's Campaign.


Than, an other nice button. Rev War 29th. Same type as the one from last week. Always happy to find this regiment.


Late 1700's to 1812 Artillery


A musket trigger guard and a possible piece of a buttstock


Not many coins. Most were George III halfpennies. Strangely, those that survived were American.
An early US Large cent - 1801


Hard times token. Walsh's N.Y. 1835


My only silver find was this unusual solid silver tube. Made of silver wire (very complex work) appears to be hand made.
Might be a decoration for an early smoking pipe stem.


A few knee or hat buckles.


My most beautiful Dandy button. Silver and gold plated. Great patina.


A very early button from mid to late 1700's. Only have found one of those in the past.


A couple of silver plated buckles.

Funny thing happened. When you texted me that pic of that point, I dropped my phone and it broke. To me it’s a banner point and I’m so happy you scored that one buddy. Congrats on the 67th as well. You’re killing it as expected.

You do realize that about 60% of your hunts would be BANNER hunts for the rest of us poor suckers! You’ve just set the bar so high for yourself that we’ve come to expect greatness from you. I can’t tell you how impressed I am with your ability to put yourself on great sites. Though you make it look easy I fully understand how much work and persistence it requires to keep producing the way you do. You motivate me to start hitting the research hard again and getting to some spots I’ve got hunches about. Keep killing it my man. That spear would be an easy BANNER in my book as well as the Rev War pewters

Drooling over your latest rev pewters Aureus, you continue to crush it buddy. That 67th is a tough one to dig, found a late war partial in Charleston so they made it at least this far south as part of another unit in 1782.

Yes, they seem to be very rare. It's my second one, the first one being a few feet away. I believe they might have made a camp at that spot accompanied by the soldiers of the 29th as those are the only two regiments I have found at that particular spot. The 67th might have being amalgamated to that regiment and from what I understood their new uniforms were lost at sea making them wear their old 67th regiment ones.

Thanks Steve. Sorry to hear about your phone. I knew those points were deadly but couldn't imagine they could destroy an electronic device hundreds of miles away. I'll be carefull with the pics I send you next time.

Sometimes I'm afraid to give impression to people that at the spots I'm hunting you just have to kick the dirt and the relics and coins would start pouring through the ground. It couldn't be further from the truth. It takes lots and lots of research,trial and error.
But,from time to time, a bit of luck and lots of perseverance can yield interesting results.
