I like traditional archery and once saw a photo in a book of a Vietnam American soldier holding a Martin recurve bow painted black. The caption said it was used for killing sentries.

Anyone ever hear of such a thing in any of our wars of the 20th century? I know the native people in the forests of Vietnam made primitive crossbows. These are the only two references I can come up with. Anyone know anything first or second hand?
