Arizona Bark Scorpion

Jim, You remind of a time I stayed the night in Worland, Wyo. I got going east on 16 towards Buffalo before sun up and about maybe 9am I started climbing the foothill of the high and dry erea heading up towards the Big Horn range and there were rattle snakes all over the black top highway trying to get warmed up. I didn't have a camera or even a mobile phone in those days, as it would have been nice to get a few shots of the many I saw.
WORLAND! I hunted up around there from about 1978 to 1990. The Orchard Ranch. Battle Mountain. Washakie County. Oh Man, I LOVE that place! ╦╦C

Mmn. They do (did) have these kind of signs up around there but look closely. I believe THIS one has been "photoshopped" in. The sign does not follow the fence. The top of the sign does not parallel the top of the fence as it must if secured to the fence. FAKE! ╦╦C

Yup...you get below 6,500' in Wyoming, you'll find rattlers, and some big ones! Mostly it's places that have lots of rocky rubble where they can shelter from the cold. Above about 6,200' I rarely have seen one, however. The most potent of them is the Pigmy Faded Rattlesnake found near Green River. Short, heavy-bodied, and venom similar to the Mojave Green.

Florida has lot's of scorpions but usually small and the sting is mild. We do have very big rattlers, moccasins, and now the invasive Burmese pythons. Do a search of invasive species in Florida & you will be amazed at what is living and reproducing here! Still, sadly it is the people here that are the most dangerous & cause the most problems.

I was doin some work for a state park in Oklahoma in the off season and they put me up in one of their cabins. It was scorpion heaven, with a few centipedes thrown in for variety. I'd come in from work and as soon as I took my boots off here the scorpions would come across the floor. You had to hang your clothes up and shake everything out before putting it back on. I had to remove all the bedding and check it before getting in bed. They still got me. One night I got out of the shower and was dryin off, and one was in the towel and got me three times in the chest. He hit the floor and I just almost stomped him and remembered I was barefooted. Luckily the stings didn't have much effect on me.

Tons of crazy critters I used to live in AZ
