I would take it to a museum. And have someone look it over. nature does not make those kind of patterns. Can anyone tell me what this is? I found this in a river bed in Arkansas
Nature can do wonders, here is the same pattern also found in Kansas. It is just a single vertebrae piece that had been found, it would continue to be squares stacked since it is the vertebrae and fossils of the fish have been found over 12 feet longI would take it to a museum. And have someone look it over. nature does not make those kind of patterns.

It's really neat! I think it may have a chance of being a very early messege stone that may have been in transit to another chief or a seal of a chief so the recipient knows who and where the the message came from and that it's official. I would go to a museum and find someone well versed in native history. If you go straight to a tribe you might not see the artifact again. Good luck! Can anyone tell me what this is? ar
I hate to be this way but how are going backwards on this? Are we not reading previous posts? A stone with the same patterns from the same state wasn’t a good enough explanation?

Judging by the leaves I’d say you are mistaken, even so it’s proof that there are natural processes acting on the stone, a cube of salt can be the size of a baseball or microscopic. The size of a formation is irrelevant in this caseYou do realize these are huge rock you can climb on! Not a piece of pottery with tiny squares made by hand like the OP is showing.
