Back in the day KvonM recommended Bob Considine's book The Men Who Robbed Brink's. His Encyclopedia of Buried Treasure Hunting (1965) contains a very interesting entry about the "Brink's Robbery Treasure" and loot that was still missing and may have been recovered by professional treasure hunters.
While poking around on the Internets, looking for something else, I came across this:
