This is a random find while metal detecting. I do not have any knowledge on Indian artifacts, so any help will be appreciated thanks. ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1466996201.571063.webp

What period is this from, or is it even possible to date this?

Not much to go on. I'd have to have it in hand and even then it could be hard to say.

Pretty busted up, shows some awesome craftsmanship even still.

Looks like an impact fracture, most likely used as a projectile point.

Can you post pics of the other side .... Looks like it's fluted may help to identify it

Very unusual piece. Nice find.

ya that is neat, cumberlands look like that, but i do not think ive seen a serrated cumberland before, you have a flute on both sides, nice find

Unusual for sure. Especially with the concave centers on both sides. I haven't seen one like it, but I'm leaning towards that being a tool, not a point.
Maybe someone else will chime in on this.

Thanks for all the replies so far! Found in northeast central Mississippi

Looks like a point with a huge impact fracture on both sides missing the tip. Might of been reworked into a tool after impact. Nice study piece.
