I'd like to know more about this arrowhead. Both photos are different sides of the same arrowhead. It changed color after a few hours. How old, type, etc? It was found in Southeast Texas.

I'm not gonna guess on the type, but it is sure made from some nice petrified wood!
 

I think it would be middle to late archaic, 6000 to 3000 BC (or 8000 to 5000 years old.) A lot of those East & SE Texas finds look similar to me when they've been resharpened. Diggers who find them usually just go by what else is being found at that level.

It could be something in the Axtell/Palmillas types. (Axtell points normally have a base like a penny, a round blob, but when they used palmwood and agatized wood they occasionally made them less round to take advantage of a smaller piece of material. Some East Texas Palmillas can have an almost dovetail look to them.)

If you soak the point in water for a couple of days the original color should come back. Or clear mineral oil and it'll stay that way for months. That frosted color happens on really well agatized wood and coral.
