Looks to be a tool of sorts to me, like the side in the first pic has been some what worked. But I'm unsure. I usually keep rocks like that if I find them in plowed fields or creeks where I find other artifacts. They go in the rock garden usually as I have lots of rocks lol
Id have to see a pic of the edge. Show it sideways and lets see. Creeks can bust rocks as they tumble but NA did break them like that also. If it shows no worked edge then I will have to say rock.
Too me it looks like a tool and the creek after thousands of years will dull the work a bit but I've found tools just like it around camps and creeks which are in mid Missouri to southern Missouri. Nice finds btw
It just appears to be a piece of shatter from a larger cobble to me. Maybe cause by a plow? I don't really see the evidence of working, and it's not really the type of material you would choose if you could get better. Looks like it has a tendency to shatter and crumble rather than flake.
You know what, it's a chopper, or maybe a hand Axe. Its made perfectly straight and is ergonomic in its design. So says I. . Thanks for the input everyone.
