I am trying to figure out this artists signature. I'm seeing Lawrence Hurd?? It is a water color. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Based on the date being World War II my prime suspect is Lawrence Hurd (1911-2012) of Bangor, Maine. He served in the US Navy and I found newspaper mentions of him exhibiting watercolors and scenes from wartime service. It seems he later got into basket-making and was locally quite famous.
