I just air tested my at gold, I havent tested it in the dirt yet. Anyways, with the stock 5x8 coil it isnt detecting clad coins any further than 9-10 inches on all settings with sensitivity turned all the way up. Is this normal or should i be getting more depth? Im new to this and cant seem to find any real info on the golds depth. all the reviews i read say 12 inches. Do I need to send it in or am I in the norm?

How are you holding the coins when you pass it by the coil?

I'm pinching the side of the coin, like i see guys doing it in the you tube videos.

So the coil is seeing a flat coin when you wave it?

yes it is flat.

You are done at 9" on an air test. Normal. You'll have to be VERY good to find a silver dime at 9" with the AT Pro. Gold is going to be tougher. :occasion14:

Thanks Terry,

That makes me feel better, I was worried I had an Issue.

With the 5x8 coil (8.5x11 is stock coil) that is very good detection distance. Don't get all caught up in air tests they aren't all they're cracked up to be.
