Hi dusty bin! The AT Gold works well in the trash, it has a threshold and also comes standard with the 5X8 DD coil. The processor on both detectors will be faster than the Ace series. Give me a call if I can answer any questions for you.

Any detector will sound on tabs and cans, you can eliminate iron but not all trash. The ATP is better than the 250 but don't know about the AT GOLD

Hi can anyone advice me on which AT detector is best for hunting in areas with lots of trash. im using a ace 250 and love it but recovery is slow and I detect in lots of places with lots of trash so feel I need to upgrade but both ATs look great for my needs but hoping someone out there has used both and can help me to make my mind up on with one

Give us a call. I will explain the Garrett AT Pro and Garrett AT Gold to you and break down all the differences. Most people lean toward the AT Pro and add the Garrett 5x8 Pro coil.

Be glad to help you!

I'm getting the AT Gold because of it's true all metal mode, threshold and it has a little more umph .
My Outlaw is absolutely phenomenal in high trashy areas with the small coil.

Hi dusty bin,

My take on the AT Pro in trashy areas is:
I have no problem with the AT Pro target separation in the trashiest of areas working the machine very slow, and that's with the stock 8.5 x 11 coil. I've pulled high tone targets over, under, around, and through (after the first scoop, that is) nails, screws, nuts, bolts, and molten aluminum around fire pits on the beach. In trashy areas I max out the Iron Discrimination at 40, plus notch out the lowest two which is about 50 total on the Iron Discrimination. At that setting I still hear nickels great which is right on the edge of that setting.

The Garrett AT Gold is awesome in all metal mode. Very deep for that small of a coil.
