Hi all,
Still swingin in this crazy heat!
Tried an old schoolhouse site that yeilded silver flatware last time,
got a nice shiny tombac this time.
Inland is too grown in, so back to the coast,
lots of heavy brass junk for the scrap buckets.
Got a weird hollow silver ball, engraved, no visible attachments :icon_scratch:
6 lb lead mushroom with brass ring.
the copper nails are works of art.
nice old bronze prop.
Apothecars weight.
2nd .50 cal dummy round.
two more parasol handles.
Lead doughboy toy, don't recognise the weapon :help:
Pipestem is a first with wearmarks from being clamped in teeth :laughing7:
Plain Dandy Button and unknown 28mm copper
1910 Cent.
Some kind of Chalice type thing, Candleholder ?? :help:
I'll keep swinging, HH all :hello:

You always have QUALITY Finds Herbie but the QUANTITY per hunt still boggles my mind. It's always interesting to see what you find there because many of those type artifacts won't be found in Tennessee in any quantity anyway. I see you found your first spoon-LOL. Stay cool Herbie and HH, Quindy.

And let me remind you that spoon is solid brass :D
They can be fun finds...
Until you go for a month or so without a decent coin :laughing9:
They are still fun or I wouldn't be diggin, I just plugged in the quote on that medal.
What this Eisenhower speech and plan to share nuclear technology did to inspire a Catholic medallion
is beyond me :icon_scratch:
thanks Quindy, Stay cool

The heat must be worst than I thought or maybe I need a gatorade infusion :o so I'll ask to make sure . ??? Is that a medal with the Blessed Mother standing on a mushroom cloud from a nuclear blast :o if so , what's up with that :-\ :icon_scratch: Your other finds look normal and great . I like the copper hand forged nails , found a round head forged square nail , last hunt . Stay cool  dawg

The quality of your finds is just amazing Herbie!! :notworthy:

I love this silver ball, fantastic detail . . . looks 18th century to me? :icon_scratch:
Possibly decoration from an 18th c. baby rattle? :dontknow:

As always . . . you are the Spoon King! :laughing7:

I LOVE these two pieces!

Have a great day on Sunday buddy,
Dave

Thanks All!
Dawg,
I was not looking at the whole picture on that medal.
Concentrated on trying to figure out what the bottom circular thing was.
She appears to be standing on a mushroom cloud coming out of a fractured planet.
The inscription now leads me to believe this is anti 'Atoms for peace' statement.
you know, against the spread of nuclear technology info.
The round head nails are a lot scarcer than squares, only found one round and hundreds of squares. shown below in this years box.
Pounding out nails must have gotten a bit tedious after a few thousand :laughing7:
Hi Dave, good tip on the baby rattle, maybe it was just soldered onto a tiny chain.
Best to you & HH to all!

I missed this one...that "Atoms for Peace" medallion is pretty cool. I see you pull out as many clock pieces as I do on my beaches!

Herbie, You save square nails too, quite a collection . :o You have more of the non ferrous because of the shipbuilding site . Those , round head, forged square nails don't show up to often , as you know , one in hundreds . I sent a pic of one , it looks copper , found at the apple orchard site . 8) Atoms for Peace , the message is clear :sign13: use atoms for energy and no more destruction, The artists concept was a surprise . Early 60's cold war era. Interesting medal  CMD dawg
