as I posted in the "other post" ---its "marraige money" call Arras -- traditonally in mexican marriages the groom gives 13 "gold" coins to the bride as a way of showing that he will "suppport" her and be a hard working "provider" for her -- the wife by accepting them says she will be his "wife" and take care of him and be a loving and loyal and helpful wife -- these are modern "peso fantansy peices" to be used symbolically to fill this function in modern mexican wedding -- because 13 "real gold" coins would cost a mint !!! -- they have about 1 /100th of a oz of 14 to 22 kt gold in them -- or about $10 worth of gold ---with gold at 1000 a oz.
generally speaking -- folks use items they have found for their avatar * see my chain "avatar"--it was over 8 oz of 925 silver --thats a 12 inch wooden ruler under to it.
