I often like a good auction... sometimes I find very cool items that I did not even know existed and had to have.
Who else out there enjoys a good auction and stories of cool items they had to have.
What is the best item you ever bought through an auction ?

One of my local area auctions I like to frequent is Granny's Auction... Can bid online and they will ship OR if it is a big item I can go pick it up.
They run the auction for an entire week so no rush to bid etc.
They just started a new one yesterday actually.. which will run until next Sunday.

I go to the local sheriffs firearm auctions and do quite well. I picked up 2 PAP M92s and a Mossberg 590a2 retro for under 1k for all 3.

After my Dad retired he enjoyed going to estate auctions. The only problem was that he would sometimes bid on junk or mystery misc. boxes to keep the auction going and would end up having the winning bid, so he brought home a bunch of junk he really didn't need. Those boxes would usually have stuff like doilies, couch pillows, a broken toy, half melted candles, and etc.

After he passed away, I inherited the job of going through all that junk. One box that I remember him telling me he paid two dollars for contained a woman's wallet. It was pretty nice so I thought my wife might want to use it. As she was checking it out she found $200 in older 20 dollar bills inside a "hidden" compartment in it. Not bad at all. Sometimes those misc. boxes aren't all that bad after all.

Also...
That is one of the reasons i like this place... they never have "junk".... even the misc stuff is in good to decent shape.
They don't accept junky or broken items... they are picky.

Auctions like this one used to be a live in person only place and then Covid changed it...
Now they only do online only now.
