Awesome (Hat Badge?) from a river bank today

I was detecting the banks of the Sugar River in Claremont NH today when this popped out from a foot down, I thought it might be a hat badge but no luck so far, any help is greatly appreciated. Btw it measures 4-1/2" long x 2-3/4" wide.
