i don't think there is any great age to that pipe. Dad always smoked a wooden pipe (and corncob), you could buy them at any drugstore. They had plastic or horn mouth pieces that came off for cleaning (remember pipe-cleaners?) and every now and then he would use a small pen knife to carve out the grime in the bowl.
